Pinterest broadens your social engagement beyond typical platforms like Facebook, Instagram or TikTok. It offers a unique kind of social engagement for your work.

Pinterest is a “catalogue of ideas” that inspires users to “go out and do that thing,”

It’s also a “visual search engine.”

Pinterest consists mainly of “pins” and “boards.” A pin is an image linked to a website or an uploaded picture.

Pins saved from one user’s board can be committed to someone else’s board, a process known as “repinning.” — — an excellent way for your creations to go viral.

Boards are collections of pins dedicated to a theme. Users can follow and unfollow others with boards, filling their “home feed.”

Pinterest had over 422 million global monthly active users as of July 2022.

Pinterest differs from standard social media sites, creating a digital and visual bookmarking platform for displaying personal identities and tastes to discover, develop, and refine personal interests.

It’s common for creatives to use Pinterest boards to showcase the graphic elements within their work.

Ibrahim and I use boards to showcase (like a portfolio) our work. For example, the best images from our Medium Adventure Stories are copied on Pinterest. The hope is that Pinterest viewers will click back through to our blog.

It’s similar to posting a link to your work on social media.
